Otta Zapotocky -Chef/Sommelier
Born in a Czech Republic to a family of chefs, Otta has moved to Canada in 1999 to pursue his career in Wine studies. Starting in Vancouver, BC through 5 diamond awarded Five Sails Restaurant at the Pan Pacific Hotel, moving to Whistlers prestigious Araxi and securing a Wine director position at Il Caminetto di Umberto shaping up their award wining wine list. Decision to move to Vancouver Island has started to develop a strong bond for local food and wine. Wine director at five stared Brentwood Bay Lodge and Sooke Harbour House has turned it in to a passion. Urge for more knowledge has lead him to Toronto, Becoming a member of the opening team at Nota Bene (Best New Restaurant in Canada) and later opening his restaurants in Leaside (L'Avenue Bistro, Tinto Bar de Tapas and Val d'issere). Now he lives in Creemore full time and using local and seasonal ingredients became his life. Come and enjoy some of his creations soon.
